How to Check Your Phone Number on MTN, Airtel, Glo & 9mobile (5 Simple Ways)

 Ever been in a situation where someone asks for your number and your mind goes blank? It happens more often than you’d think—especially with multiple SIMs, new lines, or phones that don’t always display the number clearly.

The good news is that you can retrieve your own mobile number quickly and for free on any major Nigerian network (MTN, Airtel, Glo, or 9mobile/T2). Here are five practical methods that work reliably.

1. Use the USSD Code (Fastest Method)

USSD codes are the quickest and most reliable option. They work offline, need no airtime or data, and work on both smartphones and feature phones.

MTN: *663#

Airtel: *121*2*4#

GLO: *170*54#

9mobile: *248*1#

Simply open your phone’s dialer, type the code exactly as shown, and press the call button. Your number should appear on screen within seconds.

2. Call Customer Care (Dial 300)

Nigerian networks use the harmonized customer care number 300.

Dial 300 from the SIM whose number you want to check.

Follow the automated voice prompts to speak with a customer care agent.

Request your phone number (they may ask a few verification questions for security).

Note it down once they provide it.

This method is useful if USSD codes fail or you prefer speaking to someone.

3. Check Through the Official Mobile App

If you already have the network’s official app installed and logged in (MyMTN, My Airtel, Glo Café / Glo App, or 9mobile app), your number is usually visible on the home screen or under the Profile / Account section.

Note that you typically need the number (or an existing login) to set up the app the first time, so this works best as a backup once you’re already registered.

4. Look in Your Phone Settings (Android)

This works on many Android devices, though results can vary:

Open Settings.

Go to Network & internet (or Connections / SIM cards & mobile networks).

Select the relevant SIM (SIM 1 or SIM 2).

Look for the phone number listed under the SIM details.

If it shows “Unknown,” “Unavailable,” or is blank, the information simply isn’t stored on the device—use one of the other methods instead. (iOS users generally won’t find the number this way.)

5. Call or Flash a Friend

A simple low-tech solution:

Make sure your number is not set to private/hidden (otherwise it may show as “Unknown” or “Private number”).

Call or send a free “please call me” / flash to someone nearby.

Ask them to read out or share the number that appears on their screen.

This is especially handy when you have little or no airtime.
